At this moment, Crystal is still preparing for the coming fall semester's social science courses: 3 Diversity classes (1 online, 1 hybrid/blended, 1 night FaceToFace –f2f class), 1 f2f Contemporary American Society, and 2 Sociology
(1 accelerated-hybrid/blended night class, and 1 early morning Interactive TV –ITV).
Again, here is a brief note regarding how to expand learning opportunities and facilitate learners’ learning via the ITV delivery format and encourage more students and instructors/faculty to try out this highly challenging yet extremely interesting delivery method when it is still available and affordable :
The learning Technological affordance assists Wisconsin far-site/rural learners with a Real Time distance learning experience. The coming fall semester, learners from the 4 far-site districts and I will get together for 16 weeks via an integrated Pedagogy, Contents, and Technology Knowledge (PACTK) teaching-learning model:
(1) Individual Microphones to communicate within and between schools
(2) Interactive camera with TV monitor to see each other connected different schools.
(2) An ELMO/ document camera takes the place of a chalkboard for the instructor.
(3) A fax machine and email attachments allow course materials to be sent between sites.
(4) LMS (learning management system): CVTC has switched from BlackBoard to E360 as current LMS for furthering multiple-channel communications, group/individual assignments/projects and flipped classroom/learning activities, as well as for summative and formative assessments.
The ITV airway availability has been provided by The Northern Lights Network utilizes digital fiber IP technology, which provides for full motion video and audio transmission. Service to Northern Lights Network is provided by a number of local telephone companies whose efforts are managed and integrated by Wisconsin BadgerNet Access Alliance (WBAA) which consists of AT & T, Verizon, Access WI, CenturyTel, and Windstream.
A brief history of WBAA
The Northern Lights Network began with the merger of 2 distance learning networks (WestWING and IDEAL) each consisting of 13 members. The WestWING Network began in November 1994, the IDEAL Network began in August 1997, and the merger took place in October, 1998 with CESA 11 providing management and fiscal support. The WestWING sites upgraded their systems in continuous view during the summer of 2000.

Crystal Huang A great fertile ground to incorporate BOYDs, since they all are super digital- natives ! And very easily to convert into a MOOC if needed.
