Crystal Huang Why do the typos so much in love with me?? Just caught one - homo "sapiens" (not sapience !) Yes, Charles Darwin's original ideas were hijacked (could be" innocently" remixed??? !) into Social Darwinism ! I did not read the two books that " inspired" this post, just briefly browsed.

Crystal Huang ha, just caught a grammatical error - "how the egocentrism 'come' into being=> come"s". Once in a while I also forget to add an "s" to "2 apple" = 兩個蘋果s - haha - sometimes, perhaps, students consider me a grammatical idiot! (I came to the US when I was 35, the initial stage of Alzheimer - maybe !)

Crystal Huang Learning English has been quite challenging- till today and the future to come! During my high school years in Taipei, not the math, chemistry, or physics that was scary, but - English- so foreign!! Us students worshiped our English teachers like GODs, even they taught us with the lovely Taiwaner (instead of Taiwanese??- an archaic or inappropriate term) Accent !

Tylor Mintz Another very thoughtful and profound post, Crystal. Nicely done. I of course think that the Theory of Social Darwinism is absolutely an egocentric ideology that can only be supported and promoted by the heartless privileged who are ignorant to the reality of limitation in social mobility rates among a vast majority of people (or, perhaps in a true Social Darwinist's words, "the weak") .

The inter-generational positive cultural (including socio-econo-political and emotional) capitals, tend to be invisible and won't be put into account how those unearned privileges convert the undeserved gains into intra-generational MERITs (or the Myth of the Meritocracy!) As to the negative socio-econ-political capitals, again, tend to be - vice versa.
Fairly speaking, there are conscientiously privileged people practicing - "Taking from the society, and Giving some back to the society." ! Hehe, shamelessly, like me, I am very much privileged (though don't have much - still paying student loans), and giving something via, in particular, the fb. Thanks, fb, privileges me !
