The pro-CCP parties and representatives won quite a lot of important seats - unprecedently. One of the main reasons was due to the early Chinese immigrants in Taiwan (similar to the pro-Russian people residing in the 4 eastern provinces of Ukraine) and their interests incline to believe in the BIG CCP's sweet policies, including the promises of money, fame, "safety, and happiness".
Some other explanations (but not all): the CCP openly supporting the pro-CCP media, Parties, candidates, and politico-economic representatives financially and strategically is a long term practice in Taiwan, due to Taiwan being a democratic country, particularly, in the free press, free assembly, protecting human rights...etc. which turn into the Achilles' heels, subject to the CCP's media-espionage infiltration and operations.
The above pasquinade describes various phenomena happening during the campaign seasons, both pros-n- cons, strength-n-weakness, and a potential silver lining of such a dark cloud.

Popper critiques on historicism and defends the open society and liberal democracy.
He praises Plato's analysis of social change and recognizes him as a great sociologist. But he rejects Plato's solutions which are subject to leading into anti-democracy. Popper is strongly against Totalitarianism, but, harshly criticizes Hagel and Marx as the sources of dictatorships.

But, nowadays, we seem see a tendency of reviving some formats of Fascism, Authoritarianism and Totalitarianism which are deemed as effective, efficient through a tough leader, particularly, during hard times like what Hitler's rising, sent the world into disasters.
菜籽A funny episode of a young and good looking male, with no specific working experience, (claiming himself an illegitimate descendent of the famous anti-Communism dictator during 50s-70s in Taiwan, who escaped the required military service, and openly supports/supported by the CCP regime, was elected to be the Mayor of a big city!
Unbelievable!! Perhaps, a nanny is needed delivered from the CCP regime to nurse and help him change his diapers??
Anyway, counting on me, I served 8 years in the military to make up his running away from the duty. Ya, I bore his share.

Then, the weird fluctuation of the stock market and some big shots' big investments right after Bali and Bangkok international conventions, and a strange exodus and announcement of TSMC - the giant chip company of Taiwan to AZ of the US. right before the election, and the day before the voting, an unusual speech made by the President, all sounded dubious - regarding Taiwan, for better or worse, which is beyond us small people's imagination.
If Taiwan is still functioning as a cushion (in the hub of the first island chain of the west Pacific Ocean with lots of "chips and tech") or a buffer zone to wait for the illusion to become reality that the CCP regime might one day turn into a humane society for humans, or to deter the expansion of the CCP's ambition, then, Taiwan's global status - between 2 big shots, the CCP China and the US. (一邊唯利是圖, 另一邊 唯權操控; 一邊是犲狼, 一邊是虎豹) is elevated even more intriguingly in the international community, isn't she?
In recent history, Taiwan has been betrayed enough.
No more betrayers are needed!
