By chance, learning art at the age of 40 year  in the US fulfilled an impossible dream when I was young in Taipei (another big learning during this stage was - driving and got the license first time in my life in the US.. As to in the military, I did not learn this, and there were motor-transporting soldiers driving for you, anyway).

introducing, or explaining the notion of "social class (約略是西方的 “生辰八字與文化財” 的交互反應) in the classroom with many self-identified as "middle class" students from the working class or working poor families - was a tough thing...

As far as I am concerned this is money well spent. Also people need to educate themselves on the reliance that the US STILL has on semiconductor manufacturing which is primarily based in Taiwan. If Beijing decides to take military action against Taiwan no more Apple products for at least another year...and say hello to an increase in cost to anything that is electronic in nature.
My two cents...my tax dollars are being well spent in the defense of Taiwan and the other countries that don't have dictators for a leader.
