Recalling U.S. Ambassador Llewellyn E. Thompson, signed nuclear non-proliferation treaty as Soviet Foreign Minister Andrei A. Gromyko watched in Moscow, Russia, on July 1, 1968.

During the time of Ukraine’s independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, Ukraine held the third largest nuclear arsenal in the world, including an estimated 1,900 strategic warheads, 176 intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), and 44 strategic bombers.

By 1996, Ukraine had returned all of its nuclear warheads to Russia in exchange for economic aid and security assurances, and in December 1994, Ukraine became a non-nuclear weapon state-party to the 1968 nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT).

The last strategic nuclear delivery vehicle in Ukraine was eliminated in 2001 under the 1991 Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START). It took years of political maneuvering and diplomatic work, starting with the Lisbon Protocol in 1992, to remove the weapons and nuclear infrastructure from Ukraine.

In the end it is all about egos and power. Until terms limits are introduced, super packs are dissolved, and churches are taxed ( BTW the churches brought this upon themselves by telling members who to vote for) and a flat tax is introduced it will be hard to recover now. I think we should work together, across the aisle. I understand that there is a lot of antagonism on both sides. I think we should put it aside and look for solutions. I will not be joining anti-trump rallies. I want to look carefully at what the Trump administration is doing. For example, Hegesworth is a lousy speaker. But if you look past that, as annoying as it is, all he is saying is that he wants allies to put more into NATO, proportional to their abilities. The problem is he dresses it up with lame language that incenses the left. But what it boils down to makes sense, and is a good idea. As for India, if we promote nuclear power, then Musk should be looking carefully at safety, although that is a little outside his job.

As for January 6th, I think it was a mess. Trump, however, wanted to speak to the crowds at the Capital. Had he been there, things would not have turned out so violent. His security force wouldn't let him go. As for his part in it, he should have known better. He could have and should have planned it out better. It's not going to happen again, because Trump knows it was a mess. But he was right to pardon those who got caught up in it. Just like frenzied BLM protestors, it can get out of control. I thought the BLM movement was the best we've seen in the US in a while. MAGA fell apart, like the Tea Party, but had a few good ideas about fiscal responsibility.
