Note:
The original song writer was John Pond Ordway- a 19th century American musician (J•P•奧德威) who wrote the song titled Dreaming of Home and Mother. The song was popular in Japan. A Japanese musician 犬童球溪 modified it into Japanese version of 旅愁 (a nostalgic journey) and published in 1904. Monk Master Li (李叔同- 弘一大師) traveled in Japan as an oversea student (during 1905-10) who was inspired by this song and wrote the above lyrics .

J•P•奧德威作"夢見家和母親"（Dreaming of Home and Mother). 這首歌流傳到日本後，日本音樂家犬童球溪以原歌的曲調，填上日文的新詞，作成 "旅愁"。 "旅愁" 發表於1904年 後，在日¬本廣泛流傳。1905年至1910年，李叔同留學日本，接觸到了"旅愁"，被這¬首歌曲的優美旋律打動，產生了創作靈感，後於1915年在浙江省立第一師範學校任教¬時便以J•P•奧德威的曲調配上中文歌詞，作成了傳頌至今的" 送別"。

A typical song for Commencement in Taiwan before 50s. The song was originated from Japan when its imperialism was on the rise.
