Oct. 25 (Sn), 2015. How the trauma of Narcissistic Abuse changes the world view...
44 mins · Edited ·
Just browsing fb friend Pat Jack's posts and found an interesting and well-discussed topic in one of the behavioral science courses I taught/facilitated - Psychology of Human Relations (a part of Applied Social Psychology). Share this link from Pat's post - not just psychobabbles...https://www.facebook.com/After-Narcissistic-Abuse-There-is…/. Thanks!
How The Trauma of Narcissistic Abuse Changes Our World Views
The word "Trauma" is derived from the Greek term meaning "wound." When targets encounter relationships with narcissists, what takes place is a human wound & ...

Crystal Huang In short, the assumptions that are shattered from Narcissistic Abuse are:
1. INVULNERABILITY
2. RATIONALITY
3. MORALITY
4. SELF – IDENTITY
Fortunately, the solutions are available - as "simple" as the last "let go" poster attached below smile emoticon!
"...If we have the belief that honesty is a virtue, justice is fair, and people are basically good, then our world view would be if not naive, a world view that we are safe and protected from the opposite of those virtues: Evil, unfairness, lies, betrayal and injustice. That is until we meet a narcissist. The tragedy is, that we will come to know firsthand, all the things we didn’t want to believe existed. Tragedy challenges and shatters our long held beliefs. That’s what makes the narc abuser so damaging. When something so far outside the range of our experiences happens to us, it throws us for a loop...."

Crystal Huang NPD, an old topic, constantly intriguing, reminds me of several semesters' Psychology of Human Relations course taught at CVTC...."Narcissistic Personality Disorder is characterized by a long-standing pattern of grandiosity (either in fantasy or actual behavior), an overwhelming need for admiration, and usually a complete lack of empathy toward others. People with this disorder often believe they are of primary importance in everybody’s life or to anyone they meet. While this pattern of behavior may be appropriate for a king in 16th Century England, it is generally considered inappropriate for most ordinary people today". Details refer to: http://psychcentral.com/.../narcissistic-personality.../

Crystal Huang Continued: "In order for a person to be diagnosed with narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) they must meet five or more of the following symptoms:
1. Has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements)
2. Is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
3. Believes that he or she is “special” and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions)
4. Requires excessive admiration
5. Has a very strong sense of entitlement, e.g., unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her expectations
6. Is exploitative of others, e.g., takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends
7. Lacks empathy, e.g., is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others
8. Is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of him or her
9. Regularly shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes..."
and the rest of relevant syndromes under research...
In the following poster, saying is easy - many individuals trapped in a quasi co-dependent relationship, in particular, during the dating and marital conditions, to let go, taking counseling, therapies, and personal awakening journey to get through this "traumatic" experience.

Crystal Huang Note - Do you think that the above poster has a gender bias? ( Many fb friends have this poster. I borrowed from Pat's post)
Can the male gender experience this trauma too?

Pat Jack Oh yes, we can certainly be taken in by narcissistic women. And gay males of course, they can be captured by narcissistic men as well. And we men experience the same trauma handed out by narcissists, trauma experienced when those we want to love and want to love us practice the techniques of narcissistic abuse.
Important to remember there are some narcissists who do not understand what they are doing, they just think it is the way the game is played ... they think everybody acts like they do and that they better beat them to the punch, before they get injured.

Crystal Huang Hi, Pat, what a telepathy... We both posted simultaneously. Agree.

Crystal Huang Hi, Pat, I used "such as" - which connoted the same sex couples as well.

Crystal Huang According to my observations, in addition to upbringing (personality traits hybridized by nature and nurture), the power structure, comprised by wealth, status, power, prestige, physical prowess, gender domination, educational levels, and media fabrication imposes a falsified illusion on the protagonist with an incomplete or weaker self-esteem to "co-act-out" the traumatic dramas.

Oct 25 (Sn). 2015 Song for Sunday - 昴 (すばる, The Pleiades)
昴 すばる
Composer and Lyricist:谷村新司 Tanimura Shinji
Singer: Xena LCH #149

The Pleiades
I closed my eyes and felt so sad in the darkness
So I opened them again, but all I saw
Was a lonesome road running towards the wilderness.
Oh, you, stars of fate, destined to shatter in pieces
Just shine on me silently,
I will be on my way,
With bluish white cheeks.
I will be on my way.
Farewell to you, the Pleiades!
Every time I breathe
The cold wind whistles in my chest
But my heart keeps warm
In the pursuit of my dream.
Oh, you, nameless sparkling stars
Just end your lives brilliantly
I, too, will be on my way,
Following the voice of my heart.
I, too, will be on my way,
Farewell to you, the Pleiades!
Oh, someday some one may go this road.
Oh, someday some one may go this road.
I will be on my way,
With bluish white cheeks.
I will be on my way.
Farewell to you, the Pleiades!
I will be on my way.
Farewell to you, the Pleiades!

Crystal Huang I got a tiny adventure this morning.
I arrived the Gate Way campus around 10:40 am, then seemingly not correct. Then I stopped by both East and West Annex Business main campus. Still not right. I emailed Jim, and found Associate Dean Adam's message. So, the event is still going on at 4000 Campus road to 5 pm.
