June 24 (W), 2026 Reprints, arrived ahead of schedule.
The reprints (revised 37 times, particularly, the photo pixels... not hard cover, this time) of Meow De Jing arrived today (ahead of schedule via OnPress).
This book is a complete accident. Back in 2015, I began randomly applying the ideas of Laozi’s Dao De Jing (Tao Te Ching) to my feline majesties' daily routines. As it turns out, felines are natural-born Daoist masters. Over time, those 81 chapters practically wrote themselves—mostly while I was serving as their humble servant.

This is the Preface of the book:
Inspired by the bond I share with my feline-best-friends and the joy of studying Laozi’s Tao Te Ching/Dao De Jing (道德經), I wrote Meow De Jing (貓的經).
A certain spiritual affinity exists between the nature of felines and the essence of the Tao/Dao, which compelled me to bring this book to life.There are eighty-one chapters in the Dao De Jing. I translated each chapter based on the original text with minor modifications from the feline’s perspective.
The original Dao De Jing text and its English translation are attached in Appendix A, decorated with some of my artwork.

1. the feline's perception and interpretation on Laozi's Dao De Jing (or Tao Te Ching).
2. a translated Laozi's Dao De Jing in English along with the original text.
3. some poems born from sorrow and joy over years of living together.
4. added with my artwork.

A note for reference:
Today, publishing personal work and projects has become far less complicated, particularly through self-publishing. Most people can now do it—whether they have something meaningful to share or simply wish to make a living from their work.
For most of my career, I used to think that self-publishing was not a real option for my work, particularly for formal academic papers like my these, dissertation and other scholarly work.
My eventual interest in it actually grew out of my students’ learning process. I am obliged to them.
It began with my teaching in 2001 at a local university and later at a technical college. Many of the subjects (e.g., Sociology, Diversity Studies, Development Psychology, Government, and Art) I taught were rather abstract, for examples, social stratification, different forms of social mobility, cultural capital, the myth of meritocracy, the Northern versus Southern Renaissance, modern versus postmodern art, and similar topics. Because of this, Dewey’s “learning by doing” approach proved especially useful—though it sometimes required a bit more time to get job done.
For more than twenty-two years, I guided students through hands-on projects in all of my classes—individual projects as well as collaborative team work. By the end of each semester, students produced tangible pieces such as collages, portfolio books, and other printed works. Some projects were individual, while others were group or capstone projects.
Occasionally, students or groups would give their projects to me as gifts after grading. Over time, I accumulated quite a number of them—eventually more than I had space to store. In 2005, I decided to ask students to begin using design software to compile the semester’s work into digital formats.
I explored various applications and conducted my own experiments to understand their functions. Students were initially free to choose whichever software they preferred. However, technical issues soon arose from using different platforms across multiple classes. Eventually, I decided to adopt Bookemon’s software, which at the time I found relatively user-friendly and reliable.
I devoted about half of a class session to guiding students step by step on how to assemble their work digitally, and I also offered technical support after class when needed.
The software provided an easy tool, free storage, and the ability to publish finished work online. I therefore encouraged students to publish their projects—or other creative work—whenever possible.
Through this process, I became familiar with the platform and its straightforward publishing workflow. As a result, many other online publishing companies seemed less appealing to me.
Moreover, I am not an established writer, and pursuing publication through major publishers would likely involve many hurdles.
I thank this nice tool, which doesn't mean that I endorse this app. It is just a nostalgic feeling reminding of good old days connecting students and me during those teaching-n-learning years.

One more thing: The publishing base fee can be a little bit higher. Most of my previous students came from working-class families (similar to mine,) so printing in physical format can be less affordable - I think.
Also, with the Almighty AI genii roaming everywhere now, the publishing affair is another new story...

Meow De Jing was originally published in the physical book format. Later I converted it into an ebook. Now, I added with a video version on Youtube.
