June 29 (W), 2022 Horrific deaths, Money-Eros-Guns and Justices

Why? Tragic, difficult deaths...

Krystal LC Huang
For the "patriots" who don't believe in the basic human rights due to the "troubles" of the "undocumented" migrants, this book might make you happy...
For the general spectators, this is a hard to read through book with many controversies: The Land of Open Graves.

Krystal LC Huang
Book reviews from some other readers: "In this gripping and provocative 'ethnography of death,' anthropologist and MacArthur 'Genius' Fellow Jason De León sheds light on one of the most pressing political issues of our time—the human consequences of US immigration and border policy.
The Land of Open Graves reveals the suffering and deaths that occur daily in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona as thousands of undocumented migrants attempt to cross the border from Mexico into the United States.

Drawing on the four major fields of anthropology, De León uses an innovative combination of ethnography, archaeology, linguistics, and forensic science to produce a scathing critique of 'Prevention through Deterrence,' the federal border enforcement policy that encourages migrants to cross in areas characterized by extreme environmental conditions and high risk of death. For two decades, systematic violence has failed to deter border crossers while successfully turning the rugged terrain of southern Arizona into a killing field. Featuring stark photography by Michael Wells, this book examines the weaponization of natural terrain as a border wall: first-person stories from survivors underscore this fundamental threat to human rights, and the very lives, of non-citizens as they are subjected to the most insidious and intangible form of American policing as institutional violence.

In harrowing detail, De León chronicles the journeys of people who have made dozens of attempts to cross the border and uncovers the stories of the objects and bodies left behind in the desert.
The Land of Open Graves will spark debate and controversy."

I love this essay

Jo Neverdahl Hayes
This tragedy is so hard to imagine. Mothers and fathers crying for help.
Babies laying with the dead stench of decaying corpses.
Tragic and horrifying.

Krystal LC Huang
Jo, this is the most painful way for me to think of the notion of "Being Human" both for the lucky ones (like me, ) and the unfortunate...too many.

Krystal LC Huang
Can the lucky ones, do something, even just a tiny act, such as voicing out for the voiceless?

Jo Neverdahl Hayes
We need to be a voice. no matter how soft. Someone will hear us!

Jo Neverdahl Hayes Yes!

REMEMBERING when Howard Zinn turned me on to #Kropotkin http://bit.ly/2IgBR4w
"Humanity retains only the rights it has won by hard struggle and is ready to defend at every moment, with arms in hand."
' We cannot go in search of our natural rights by way of a law, a scrap of paper that could be torn up at the least whim of the rulers. For it is only by transforming ourselves into a force, capable of imposing our will, that we shall succeed in making our rights respected.
It is not from a parliament that we seekers of freedom should ask permission, nor must we beg a law from the Senate. We must become an organized force, capable of showing our teeth every time anyone sets about restraining our rights...' "

June 28 (T), 2022 In this saha world, there is a unique life

A Memorial Day reflection: 麗玲/Li-ling's passing away triggered me to rethink of my life : too much focusing on teaching (教書 工作得像一個拼命三娘), so, now I have a tranquil life to be myself, though, still grieving - every day...
(I was back to Taipei, and stayed with her in the hospital during the last two months of her precious life. I had never experienced such a traumatic shock to see her passing away second by second. My heart was lacerated into thousands of pieces in the tearless darkness…)

A relevant short writing (posted on May 10 T, 2022) with a brief translation:

05-10-22 (T) Title : Camaraderie - let’s plunder the Planet

Party Comrade A: though I am a second generation of the Red Politburo, my old folks’ fighting for the CCP shall not be forgotten. I am as red and loyal as my father and uncles, dedicated myself to serve the Party’s missions. Naturally, inheriting my father’s position, I swear to serve my Party loyally. These money and women offered by the benefited people to me as rewards and gifts, how could I reject their good will?

Party Comrade B: I cannot agree more. Look at these ungracious people! Constantly performing like the caring parents of these damned, ignorant people, we serve them with everything they need, while they are still not satisfied with our endeavors and are wanting more. If not my parents and grandparents fought, stole the land, and usurped the Nationalists' government (KMT), they might still have been living like the rotten Black Five/黑五類 (the landlord, the filthy rich, the anti-revolutionary, the bad element, the right-winger), baptized in the poison of the old feudal society. What’s that? Freedom? Democracy? Or something like that, can these empty notions function like food to benefit people? We, the people, have lived as obedient and submissive as possible for thousands of years, what’s wrong with that? The current emperor and politburo are working hard to be our parents and guardians.

Isn't our Party caring and thoughtful? Who will be ungrateful to try against it? Na. Who dares to have the guts! If caught, all the associates, friends, and folks will be executed!

Party Comrade C: These stupid masses, none of them understand how hard we have done to please those top rank-and-files. Dealing with their appetites for money and women, we are exhausted. Those tributes (money and women) that the subordinates and the profited people provide us can never be enough to fill up a small corner of the powerful people’s stomachs. Other than constantly seeking, taking, and robbing good stuff from the dumb-numb people for pleasing the top powerful, what else can we do?

Party Comrade D: All ready! Now, let’s talk about something positive. The comrades of my unit have been working so hard to attract, even, lure businesspersons and politicians domestically and internationally to bring in the updated technology and capitals, so we could engage in massive construction projects, such as the skyscrapers, highways, bridges, railways, other modern architectures, and, most importantly, military weaponries. The whole landscape has been changed. Aren’t those ignorant people so blind that they cannot see how we have face-lifted the main cities. Even, aren't the foreign countries dropping their jaws, amazed that how many skyscrapers we can build? Reshaping the country into a modern type is our great pride. For examples, only 2018, the steel quantity was 51% of the whole world’s production, and the speed and numbers of big and tall housing compounds were number one in the world. Yet, other countries and some international watchdogs criticize us about the air and water pollutions causing many unknown diseases and carcinogens. The hazardous dumps from the mining industries and refineries create health problems to humans and animals. They accused us of destroying the ecosystems, such as more than 170 species of fishes that were extinct from the Yangzi River and the massive smog floating in every big city. They even announce to the world that our CCP experiments the novel corona viruses to put the whole planet in jeopardy! What a nonsense! What a fuss! These countries and people are just jealous of our success and envy what we can do!

Party Comrade E: One more thing, look at how successful of our Silk-Road Economic Belt Initiative is! So many countries, politicians, and businesspersons were fascinated and bought into our global strategic gigantic projects.

The bottom line is “Money Talks!” Our revenues from the never-tired, bees-and-ants-like working population enable our Party to disperse big money to the interested counterparts in the world. They are eager to do business with us. Our cheap, efficient working labor force accomplishes many supposed-to-be very expensive projects that even those rich countries dare not to do. We have completed many huge constructions for them with little cost to gain their trust. Like a saying of the Republic of Taiwan, describes the welcomed products as “Cheap and nicely Big/俗又大碗”.

Those politicians of the involved countries were so happy to get jobs done by CCP’s low-priced, obedient workers. All the money and efforts of those countries were saved by CCP’s generosity and efficiency through the millions of submissive, oppressed working bees and ants. What a great deal to do business with CCP! The environmental policies and slogans of those advanced foreign countries turn into blind-eyes and deaf-ears, after they tasted the economical and efficient sweetness given and done by the CCP.

Let our CCP deal with all the economic externality and bear ecological cost of those advanced foreign countries’ progress and the rest of developing nations’ improvement!! Wow, our 1.4 billion diligent, docile and cut-price post-modern slaves! What the gods-giving presents to the humanity - the world largest labor concentration camp - we own!

Party Comrade F: Ditto! In the nutshell, the old proverb says that “haste makes waste” is revised by our CCP’s success. It is “Quick Makes Success” through any tricks available, even including stealing, cheating, cajoling, or luring. The principle of taking opportunities of the tight corners to make swift progress/彎道超車 proves our smartness and efficiency working. Who cares what sort of “software” construction of freedom, justice, and democracy for humanity? Only money and power are real, and get them as soon as possible that is what our Party about. Morality, civility, human rights, animal rights, and environmental protection…etc. these empty notions, are they good for our CCP’s growth of power? Ya, can those abstract and lofty ideas help us conquer the world?

Well, let’s us strengthen our patriotic spirit. Repeat after me, “Hail, CCP! Uprise! Those who don’t want to be enslaved, unite!” "Long live the Three Moral Pillars and Seven Ethic principles!" (The original saying: four moral pillars and eight ethic principles, i.e., lacking the sense of guilt, and short of being kind).

----------------
Are these outline of practices feasible?

Taiwan: Stand with Hong Kong people
"...The Hong Kong Legislative Council enacted the 'Fugitive Offenders Ordinance' in 2019, causing millions of Hong Kong people to take to the streets to protest.
On June 9, the 3rd anniversary of the Anti-Extradition Movement, the wave of resistance models created by Hong Kong people with their lives caught the attention of the international community. However, the CCP passed the stricter " Hong Kong version of the National Security Law " the following year, and this year's "July 1" will be replaced by the first military attache, Chief Executive Li Jiachao .

Taiwan's position is to support Hong Kong people in their struggle for freedom and democracy, and stand with Hong Kong people.
