Dec. 30 (T,) 2025 Brutal!!! Bile extraction from live bears: Whose medicine? Whose pain?

https://cn.nytimes.com/china/20130520/c22rescue/zh-hant/

Some contents of this article:

"... Guizhentang plans to triple its bear population from the current 400 to 1200, sparking strong opposition from those opposed to bear bile farming. In bear bile farming, tubes are inserted into the bear's abdomen to extract bile, sometimes for several years.

Last month, several of China's largest media outlets released distressing, secretly filmed videos showing bears so overcrowded that they could barely move... despite growing public opposition, the Chinese government is not yet ready to end the lucrative trade in ursodeoxycholic acid, the active ingredient found in bear bile. While scientists have synthesized an alternative, proponents of traditional bile claim it is not as effective as natural bile. Natural bear bile currently sells for $24,000 (approximately 150,000 yuan) per kilogram, roughly half the price of gold.

Scientists have conducted detailed studies, but have not reached definitive conclusions regarding the health benefits of bear bile. However, this substance, usually sold in powdered form in capsules or as a tonic soaked in bile, is widely regarded as a panacea. Those promoting bear bile claim it can enhance liver function, alleviate flu symptoms, and even improve eyesight.

In a traditional Chinese medicine wholesale market in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province, vendor Yang Tingying (transliteration) insists that bear bile can treat various liver diseases, including hepatitis. "Because it's natural, it's the most effective," she says, pulling out a pair of dried bear bile ducts. The
Besides China, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, and North Korea also have bear bile farms. Experts say that the method of extracting bile from live animals was invented in North Korea in the 1980s.

The main challenge facing animal rights advocates is convincing Chinese consumers that the cruelty of bear bile farming, or the risks of consuming bile from sick bears injected with antibiotics, far outweigh the claimed medicinal benefits of natural bile.

Most of the bears come from ranches that were shut down by the government—because they had fewer than 50 bears, violating industry regulations. The majority of these bears are endangered Asiatic black bears, known as moon bears because of a distinctive white crescent-shaped band on their chest.

The rescue center's chief veterinarian, Nicola Field, explained that the bears typically arrive at the center very thin, with infected abdomens, hernias, and lumps—marks left from bile extraction. Extracting bile requires making an incision in the bear's body so that it can be extracted three times a day.

The bears' teeth were worn down from constantly biting the metal bars of their cages, and their paws were often pitifully shaped because they rarely had time to move on the ground. "The extent of the abuse they suffered was shocking," Field said.

Years of suffering and captivity have traumatized them. Some rescued bears will repeatedly bang their heads against the wall or bite their limbs.  Last year, at a press conference held to refute critics, Fang Shuting, president of the China Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine, stated that Xiong thoroughly enjoyed the bile extraction process, describing it as being like turning on a tap. "Natural, simple, and painless," he said. "Afterwards, Xiong happily went out to play."

His remarks backfired, sparking ridicule on social media and drawing rebuttals from experts who stated that bear farm owners would never allow bears to leave their cages. "Bears are as intelligent as dogs; they remember pain," Zhang Xiaohai said. "They would never want to go back to have their bile extracted." Zhang Xiaohai, working as a covert investigator for the Animals Asia Foundation, visited numerous bear farms.

But Zhang Xiaohai and others saw hope in the attitudes of young Chinese people like Guan Zhiling, who came to the rescue center with her high school classmates. She said, "This is incredibly cruel and disrespectful to the bears; it's a disgrace to humanity."

Strength vs. Vulnerability amid the escalating tensions...

You got to be super strong to live with such a neighboring country....

Except the constant military threats, what about those invisible nuclear plants' humongous "byproducts" (beside the strategic weapons of mass mutual destruction) - water vapor, radioactive gases (like Tritium, noble gases, and Carbon-14 etc.) in addition to solid radioactive waste (spent fuel, contaminated materials) and non-radioactive things... even this Regime knows how to protect or save its own life to reduce the probability for tragedies to happen in "its own territory"...

Having said so, the most formidable threat is not from the outside CCP regime, but from inside the China-mainlanders (not all of them.) .Since the CCP regime usurped power from KMT (The Nationalist Party, 1949,) at that time, about 1.2 million escapees swamped into Taiwan. Even today, many of them mentally prefer/identify with the Regime yet physically enjoy staying in Taiwan.

Briefly speaking, they organize their political Parties, elect their congressional representatives to voice their desire to support/unify with the One-Party-Autocratic-CCP regime against the influence of the US. and Japan on Taiwan.

Dec. 29 (M,) 2025 Breaking News! A bellicose operation!

Breaking News:

The CCP regime, on December 29, launched aother fresh round of large-scale military drills around Taiwan, simulating a blockade of the self-ruled island's key ports.

Beijing said this move involving live-fire training and units from its army, navy, air force, and rocket force, testing its ability to control the surrounding sea and airspace.

Taiwan condemned the operation as military intimidation, warning they undermine regional stability, after reporting dozens of Chinese aircraft and vessels near the island.

This heavy maneuvering, code-named "Justice Mission 2025," include simulated operations targeting major ports vital to Taiwan’s trade and energy supplies. As tensions rise, Taiwan has placed its forces on heightened alert, while the CCP regime has warned against external support for the island of Taiwan ( pointing to Japan, the US. and the rest.)

From 2020 spreading and worsening the Coronaviral Pandemic, damaging the ecosystem, supporting Russia in the Russo-Ukrainian war, constantly marauding Taiwan, threatening Japan (particularly, aiming at the newly elected Prime Minister,) distorting the global supplying chain via dumping cheap, shoddy stuffs, to disturbing the Indo-Pacific economic and regional stability, is this CCP regime a nice neighbor or bellicose country to deal with...?

Originally, I only thought about the female reproductive power of the CCP regime to the world, and forget that sperms are much more powerful than eggs in quantity, particularly, when males have much more money. aided by high tech...
Isn't this world made more colorful with tons of super-rich kids?

Isn't the most powerful weapon of a couple of big countries - QUANTITY? - with my deep sympathy.

This male seems treating tons of children as valuable merchandises,or equipment, as a part of monetary power-expansion, compared to Exxx Mxxk, what the similarties are...?

Dec. 1 (M,) 2025 Breaking News! 1.4 nm Chips are availabe soon.

TrendForce News: Former TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company)  retired senior vice president Wei-Jen Lo’s move to Intel—along with allegations that he illegally took the classified sub-2nm documents—has now sparked reports that Intel is also trying to recruit TSMC engineers in Arizona. According to Liberty Times, sources say Intel has recently been aggressively poaching engineers from TSMC’s Arizona fab. Compared with TSMC, Intel is reportedly offering salaries that are 20–30% higher while providing a workload that is roughly half as heavy, successfully attracting some U.S. engineers to switch over.

The Arizona location carries particular significance, as both companies are producing their advanced technologies there. Intel is building its leading-edge 18A chips in Arizona, with the company announcing that Panther Lake will enter high-volume production at its newest Arizona fab later this year. TSMC, meanwhile, is manufacturing NVIDIA’s Blackwell wafers at its Arizona site.

Regarding the current status of Lo’s case, UDN News notes that TSMC has publicly stated it has filed a related lawsuit against Lo with the Intellectual Property and Commercial Court. The court confirmed that it has received TSMC’s application for a provisional injunction. The scope of TSMC’s request covers the employment contract between TSMC and Lo, as well as the non-compete agreement and trade-secret obligations he signed during his tenure. The purpose of the injunction is to prevent Lo and Intel from taking any further actions, UDN News notes.

A brief of the above video:
"In order to choke TSMC's neck, the Intel desires a 75-year-old TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacuring Company) retired engineer! While spending money to invest Intel used a national-level means to poach TSMC's "technical anchor" Luo Weiren, thinking that this would cut off the 1.4nm road.

Then, what happened?  Taiwan's TSMC directly spent NT$1.5 trillion (equivalent to the money of 10 aircraft carriers) in the Taichung Science Park, turning the dream-like 1.4nm chip factory into reality!

How to describe this unprecedented 1.4 nanometer in plain words? It is like a hair strand which is stuffed with 100 billion transistors in cross-section, and each transistor is only a few silicon atoms wide!

TSMC's engineers slept in the laboratory for 45 days, taming this physical ghost with the precision of "operating on atoms" - how is this possible? This is wrestling with God!

Intel's poaching a seasoned engineer seems can take shortcuts, but it doesn't understand: TSMC's strength never depends on an special individual!  It is the high quality scientists, pouring long term systemic team work that allows Jingyuan Plant 25 to function in a flatness error <0.5 mm; it is the technology iteration of tens of thousands of engineers from 90 nanometers to 5 nanometers (now, 1.4 namometers) that has not been interrupted for 21 years; it is the confidence that even if the cost of a wafer is worth one Mercedes-Benz.

Now the A14 factory has set a dead line: trial production in 2027 and mass production in 2028 - this means that in the next 10 years, the world's most advanced mobile phones, AI chips, and autonomous vehicles will all demand TSMC to "supply blood"!
