天上白雲飄蕩, 地上人兒馬蹄忙...http://youtu.be/TcAL3-zckNs But, the original lyrics are unbelievably touching... I sang with tears when I fully captured the melancholic, touching thoughtfulness of the words...
In particular, sung by the original singer (Japanese singer Mr. Mihashi Michiya)- from a man's gentle heart toward a horse, it is so heartfelt and moving.
A melancholic departure from a beloved horse.

Crystal Huang:
Indeed, songs during the post-colonial stage were heavily tainted
with 殖民"皇奴"風 (the influence of the Japanese Colonial nostalgia), but should people question - who, what, how made into so, instead of, blaming innocent people victimized due to the historical tragedies!
By the way, singing foreign songs is a good way to relax and learn/refresh the languages.
All the lyrics were included on youtube posting sites. Note, in particular, sing for my special friend !

Dec. 8 (M), 2014. A little Girl's "Meritocracy"??
Crystal Huang shared Boon Kim Lee's video.

Thanks to Lien Hwa Yong Fei' s share the video. How to briefly explain "meritocracy" without jargon - a person's success or failure mainly is determined by one's "OWN" talent, efforts and/or choice??
Hope this is NOT a GREAT way for "little Women to Lift Up MORE THAN half of The Sky" - at such a young age!

This little girl's mother used to be a healthy and the most beautiful woman of the town. She went to Canton (a province of China) and came back home with severe mental illness. No one knows what happened to her. All people know was that the little daughter assumed multiple roles to take care of her mother and father, as well as kept the household going.
Her father had a brain injury when he was young due to an accident. He could only pick up some heavy duty chores to earn tiny money (such as in the video, he manually upload huge lumber trunks one by one to a truck like a plowing cattle with no yoke...)
So, this is a video clip of how this little girl managed to be the Government, deciding all the Social and Welfare programs/policies to build a "safety nest" for her home on a daily basis via her magic wand - two little hands.
Hope this is not a GREAT way for little Women to Lift Up more than half of the Sky - at such a young age!
(The conversation was touching. Note, in the conversation with the reporters, one event the little girl mentioned was that one night, the mother serendipitously woke up and grabbed the little daughter and tossed her into a freezing pond. Luckily enough, the father timingly rescued the daughter to a hospital. The girl barely survived. So when asked if she were granted a wish, what would it be? She answered - to cure her mother's disease, so no one would tease and bully her due to her mother's mental illness.)

Crystal Huang We just covered the concepts of "relative poverty" which, tends to happen in the affluent societies, and the "absolute poverty" (typically, the low-income nations) in the chapter of global stratification. If working hard per se can get one successful, then, this father and girl would have been millionaires?? Meritocracy works??!!

Crystal Huang A controversy - Do some social/welfare programs in some countries nurture dependence? Do the most need to be assisted tend to be the most neglected? Where are the policy makers in the above country (China) - is this so called the "true individualism - pull up one's boots with own bootstraps": bear all the plights and miseries on one's own shoulder... (in this case, the the most unbearable miseries and heaviest burdens on the little girl, then, the father, and surly, the mother).

Sung: Xena LCH #97
Why does the sun go on shining?
Why does the sea rush to shore?
Don't they know it's the end of the world,
'cause you don't love me anymore?
Why do the birds go on singing?
Why do the stars glow above?
Don't they know it's the end of the world?
It ended when I lost your love.
I wake up in the morning and I wonder,
why ev'rything's the same as it was.
I can't understand, no I can't understand,
how life goes on the way it does!
Why does my heart go on beating?
Why do these eyes of mine cry?
Don't they know it's the end of the world?
It ended when you said good-bye.

"Love And Marriage"
Love and marriage, love and marriage,
Go together like a horse and carriage.
This I tell ya, brother, you can't have one without the other.
Love and marriage, love and marriage,
It's an institute you can't disparage.
Ask the local gentry and they will say it's elementary.
Try, try, try to separate them, it's an illusion.
Try, try, try and you only come to this conclusion:
Love and marriage, love and marriage,
Go together like a horse and carriage.
Dad was told by mother you can't have one
You can't have none.
You can't have one without the other.
[Musical interlude]
Try, try, try to separate them, it's an illusion.
Try, try, try and you only come to this conclusion:
Love and marriage, love and marriage,
Go together like a horse and carriage.
Dad was told by mother you can't have one
(You can't have none.)
You can't have one without the other.

Nov. 28 (F), 2014. How to observe the Black Friday?
A paradoxically religious ritual - hard to believe!!
Who made this female - Gadhimai - A goddess of Power, by letting her enjoy seeing people brutally slaughtering thousands of innocent buffaloes and birds during two days' bloody carnage?? I have been puzzled by this heinously "sacred" deed in a region that is considered to live with animals peacefully or they don't eat their animals...
Sign the petitions, or donate money - either way will do.
"Millions of Hindus flock to the ceremony, which is held every five years at the temple of Gadhimai."

This is how the artificial consumption makes the world tick !!!! 1 to 5% of the world population are happy forever until over-consuming to death, and the rest - are silent with their untold bleeding-heart stories. (Nothing to be ashamed of - my eldest sister had begun her "career" as a child laborer for 14 years until she got married. Now she is 71 years of age with severe lung disease which she contracted during the prime time of her career at the booming textile factories; as to my other sisters and me, the birth order made us younger female siblings much luckier to escape quicker from the destiny of being child laborer.

Which countries does "four hidden dragons" refer to? Taiwan, China, and ...? From where does that saying derive? Globalization is a scourge, to be sure.
22 hrs · Unlike · 1

Crystal Huang Hard to tell if globalization is a 100% scourge, depending on which isle is in and the measures of benefits and damages to the globalizers and glogalized/ colonized. The second wave of globalization "nurtured" (if not kindly exploited) the Asian 4 little dragons - Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong approximately during 60s-80s, hopefully, not too inaccurate. Now the current 3rd wave of globalization (not including any early stage of globalization before the 20th century) is waking up the bigger sleeping dragon ("probably" China). Ironically, Taiwan has been the major triggering force...

Abu Tay Tay Thanks for the explanation. Who gave them the name "the little dragons?" Is it an Asian term, or a term given by the exploiters?
